Today we are going to brainstorm: Engineering

What is Engineering:
-Building of various things – like building, roads, vehicles and technology and more .. giving ideas

-Making air craft and rockets
Where did the idea to make a air-plane come from?

-From a bird
Where did the idea to make a submarine come from ?

-From a fish
Sonar is the device that helps to know how deep is the ocean is.

Where do you look at for ideas to engineer :
In nature

-Why is it daytime in America and night time in Maldives?

-dolphins already have the sonar to know the depth
Compass shows us direction. How do the birds know the direction on where to fly?

-The birds have the compass in their beak.. that is how they find direction.

So if dolphins have sonar and birds have compass, what do us humans have that is special?
Brain and ideas..

What is a good idea?
The one that helps you, others on island , maldives and world plus helps dolphins and birds

From where did we get the idea for electricity?

-from lightning
All engineering good ideas come from nature, animals, environment

So for engineering anything .. where do you start?
In the nature…

Most important: Why are we making this?

Key Engineering Concept :

1. Creation or building
2. Maintenance
3. Change

Engineering is about using what is in nature
vs recreating and building from scratch.

Role of engineering has changed from making a lot of product to make max profits to:
Engineering SUSTAINABLE products using what we have naturally to help
us/me grow,
others/community/family/country grow
and the environment/dolphins/birds/planet grow
