A LETTER TO ME (FROM FIVE YEARS AGO)
I was in the eighth grade, young and naïve (avid player of Minecraft at that stage of life) My Social Studies teacher Mr. Mason asked us to write a letter to ourselves, that way we can reflect on it when he sent it to us senior year. Now I always wanted to do something with computers and filmmaking. I took fifteen minutes to write the letter. After I finished he took the envelope and I expected the letter to be lost forever. But to my surprise as I was in my AP Psychology class one day five years later, I was handed the letter which I wrote to myself in eighth grade. I wrote a short paragraph about what I wanted to see myself doing five years later. You can read it down below.
As of now where am I five years later? I am an aspiring Computer Engineer and Filmmaker. I am one of the coordinating producers of my film broadcast program. Won awards for some of the videos I have worked on as a cinematographer and editor. I also learned how to code in Java and Python. Yes, I also built many computers for my friends and family even if there were bumps in the way. I also worked at my local movie theatre at one point and I guess the letter helped me realize what I wanted to pursue and that I stuck to my goals and ambitions throughout high school. So thanks Mr. Mason, this letter really helped me view my current ambition from a new perspective, even though it may have been a younger version of myself.
