Penguins.
Penguins are swimming birds that live in the earth’s southern hemisphere (the southern half of our planet). They have webbed feet and flipper-like wings, which they use to swim. Unlike other birds, penguins have feathers all the way down their legs. They also have a thick layer of fat under their skin. These help to keep them warm in the cold Antarctic. When it is to time breed, penguins gather together in large groups called colonies. They huddle together to keep each other warm.Penguins are clumsy on land but are graceful and fast in water. The surface of their bodies is smooth so that they slip through the water easily. They find it difficult to walk on and and often slide along the snow on their bellies.
In this week also I had added kitchen waste to the bin.
We watered the plants everyday. we had pluck tomato. Next week my plan is to water the plants.
In this week also I had watered the plants.
The oldest trees.
In times like today when deforestation is continuing across the world it would be difficult to believe that we still have trees which are thousands of years old. However it is true that the bristle cone pines found in the mountains of California are over 4,000 years old. Till the end of the nineteenth century, scientists believed that the Giant Sequoias were the oldest trees till they discovered the bristle cones. A bristle cone tree cut down in 1,969 was find to be more than 4,800 years old. Presently the oldest living tree is about 4,600 years old. Bristle cone trees grow in very adverse conditions and at high altitudes and on barren terrain. They have strangely twisted and stunted shapes and few leaves at the top.So we can think the bristle cones tree is oldest tree among the trees.
We put waste in to the waste bin everyday. This week we added coconut powder, banana peels, onion peels, garlic peels, tea powder and cucumber peels. We mixed it daily.
Solar System Because of the sun and its magnetic field, it and all surrounding objects belong to the solar system. The solar system includes a variety of objects, including the sun, planets, rock fragments, comets, and meteors. Chief among them is the sun. The Solar System is believed to have been formed by the aggregation of dust and gas particles that existed in the universe about four thousand six hundred years ago. The sun, which produces light and energy, is also a star. The sun is one hundred and nine times larger than the earth. The sun is the source of energy and light for all the planets in our solar system. There are eight major planets in the Solar System. These are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and the smallest planet in the Solar System. Venus is visible in the eastern sky just before sunrise at one time of year. Therefore, this is also known as ‘Pahantharuwa’. Venus is also visible in the western sky after sunset at one time of year. Hence it is also known as ‘Irabatatharuwa’. Earth is the largest planet we live on… Read more »
