Overview:

The iINVENTme April/Annual Brainstorm meeting featured a diverse group of participants including student interns, educators, community leaders, and experts focused on holistic child development and balanced lifestyles.

-The meeting recognized outstanding interns,  partner, institution,  for their impactful contributions for the past year

-Announced plans for grants and scholarships totaling ten lakh rupees, and acknowledged donations to partner centers.

-The session concluded with appreciation for the collaborative spirit and encouragement for ongoing engagement in future initiatives, reinforcing the commitment to holistic growth and community empowerment.

-Key contributors included Abhi, the Principal Innovation Partner, who shared the organization’s twelve-year journey, achievements, and future vision emphasizing sustained support through Dhi Yogi Foundation.

-Educator Yasmin Bano highlighted the importance of nurturing mind, body, and soul through mindful habits and education. Environmental advocate Aishath recited a poem on ocean conservation, integrating environmental awareness into holistic education.

-Dr. Prashant Prabhu addressed challenges faced by youth, emphasizing discipline and critical thinking amid social media influences.

-Intern performances by Lakshana Bryce and Nihara enriched the event culturally.
-Amreen Hashim Shiraj shared a compelling personal narrative on balancing academics, social life, and well-being using a juggling analogy, offering practical strategies like time blocking and environment design.

-An interactive Q&A session addressed student concerns about managing tight schedules, stress, and concentration, with speakers providing tailored advice emphasizing sleep, nutrition, discipline, and self-awareness.

-Abhi proposed the eight-eight-eight rule dividing daily time among work, personal life, and sleep as a flexible framework for balance.

Technical Setup and Coordination

Intern Performance: Song by Lakshana Bryce
Lakshana Bryce, a tenth-grade student and intern from Sri Lanka, performed a song in Sinhala reflecting the beauty of childhood and nature. The performance was well received and set a positive tone for the event.

• The song’s lyrics emphasized joyful childhood experiences connected to nature.
• Abhi acknowledged the performance and extended New Year greetings to participants.
Organizational Achievements and Vision
Abhi presented a comprehensive overview of the organization’s accomplishments over the past twelve years, including thousands of sessions, extensive reach, numerous projects, partnerships, and publications. He outlined the establishment of the Yogi Foundation to sustain these efforts and shared plans for continued support of children, teachers, and communities globally.
• Over 3,000 brainstorm sessions completed, reaching nearly 500,000 individuals.
• Support provided to over 60 projects and development of more than 10 partnerships.
• The Yogi Foundation was created as a nonprofit to ensure long-term sustainability of initiatives.
• Plans include expanding support to nonprofits, professionals, and families for holistic growth.
Keynote Speaker Yasmin Barno on Balanced Lifestyle
Yasmin Barno, an experienced educator, discussed the importance of practicing a balanced lifestyle for holistic growth. She defined balanced living as nurturing physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being through conscious choices. Yasmin emphasized mindfulness, healthy habits, education, and avoiding extremes to foster overall development in children.
• Yasmin highlighted the interconnectedness of mind, body, and soul in balanced living.
• She recommended daily meditation, balanced diet, exercise, hydration, and adequate sleep.
• Yasmin stressed the importance of education, career choices, and social interaction for holistic growth.

Intern Performance: Poem by Aishath
Aishath, an intern and environmental advocate, recited a poignant poem about the ocean’s suffering due to pollution and climate change. The poem served as a call to action to protect the environment and reflected her personal commitment to ocean conservation.
• Aishath described the ocean’s decline caused by human impact and warming.
• She shared her personal experience collecting plastic to protect marine life.

Recognition of Outstanding Interns

Keynote Speaker Dr. Prashant Prabhu on Holistic Growth
Dr. Prashant Prabhu, a dental professor and community leader, shared insights on maintaining a balanced lifestyle for holistic development. He emphasized the challenges faced by today’s youth, including social media influence and mental health issues, and advocated for discipline, focus, patience, and informed decision-making.

Future Plans and Participation Opportunities
Abhi outlined the organization’s plans for the upcoming year, including allocation of grants and scholarships totaling ten lakh rupees. He invited children, teachers, and partners to apply and participate in programs focused on life lessons, core values, and community growth. The session schedule and application process were detailed to encourage engagement.

Keynote Speaker Amreen Hashim Shiraj on Balanced Life
Amreen Hashim Shiraj, co-founder of the NGO Make A Better Place and a software engineer, shared her personal journey and insights on maintaining a balanced life amidst academic and extracurricular demands. Using the analogy of juggling three balls representing school grades, social life, and mental/physical health, she emphasized the importance of not obsessing over one area at the expense of others. Amreen recounted her own experience of burnout from focusing solely on academics and how embracing sports, leadership, and hobbies led to improved performance and holistic growth. She offered practical tips including time blocking, micro-consistency, and environment design to help students manage their schedules effectively and maintain balance for long-term success.
• Amreen described juggling three balls: rubber (grades), wooden (social life and hobbies), and glass (mental, spiritual, physical health).
• She shared her burnout experience from focusing only on academics in eighth grade and subsequent balanced approach in ninth and tenth grades.

Interactive Q&A on Balanced Lifestyle and Time Management
The session included a Q&A where students and participants asked about maintaining a balanced lifestyle amidst academic pressures, managing stress, improving concentration, and regaining routine after disruptions. Speakers including Abhi, Amreen, Yasmin Barno, and others provided personalized advice emphasizing the importance of sleep, nutrition, social connections, discipline, and self-awareness. They suggested practical strategies such as dividing time weekly or monthly, prioritizing quality over quantity in social interactions, using technology for efficient study, and pacing efforts according to exam schedules. The speakers encouraged students to adopt an eight-eight-eight rule dividing the day into eight hours each for work, personal time, and sleep, while acknowledging flexibility during peak periods. • Interns and participants should continue to build relationships, share projects, and participate in sessions scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 8 PM India time throughout the year.

  • Goal – To enable the children in need to learn to communicate in English to support their education+carrer persuits.
  • Accomplishments I 46 Sessions completed I 30+ Students impacted I Exams completed in both theory and practical to evaluate the students performance.

#2. Crochet training at STHFWCD ( KLE-Tech Dept. of Fashion and Apparel Design) –  Started – 6th Dec, 1st week – ongoing.

  • Goal – To enable the inmates to make a livelihood from this project.
  • Accomplishments – 15 sessions I 10 Inmates/women impacted I 4 Interns from Enrolled to teach the inmates.

#3.The Righteous Oak project (Michael Fernando& Fly)- Started Feb 10 – ongoing.

  • Goal –
  1. Support children’s health and wellbeing efforts
  2. Conduct #1 monthly brainstorm.
  3. Students in need for educational support to join the IINVENT ME Paid Internship program for evaluation of the grant allocation.
  4. Partner and community to conduct 1 session in line with the 3P skill.
  • Accomplishments –

IINVENT ME Family grant – Bring on existing +New partners to this program –  Started March 1st week – ongoing.

  • Goal
  1. Encourage partner growth + engagment
  2. We can set up the grant page for partners (Hudedamani, Doctors etc) if they know a child in need of support, all they need to do is to have them come to their grant page and apply. To set a request for 2-3 pics and 3 core values that come to their mind on the spot.
  3. Annual prizes for the internship program to be given under the grant partner names.
  4. Partners conduct session 1 per month.

  • Goal – Awarness + Career opportunities to students.
  • Accomplishments – 2 sessions completed with students visiting the traffic police station onsite.

**Tech training project (MCKS): Started Nov 1st week – Completed Feb 28th (out of scope, as it does not follow under the Nabros governance protocols).

  • Goal – Enable basic computer literacy and design concepts among the students to develop computer/technology knowledge and skills so that they may apply it to their education and career growth/pursuits.
  • Accomplishments –  830 Class room sessions + 1256 students impacted).
