Topic – Dental health and hygiene.
Overview –
This session on Oral health and hygiene was conducted by Dr. Preetha J Shetty, BDS, MDSI, Professor, Department of Public Health Dentistry, SDM College of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Sattur, Dharwad.

Dr. Preetha J Shetty shared details and practices of taking care of our dental health, plus how having good dental health will help us to speak clearly and maintain a good facial structure, how to brush correctly, and the right food we need to consume.
She also told the students to stay away from the consumption of tobacco to avoid mouth cancer-like diseases.

Topic: Good Touch and Bad Touch

Overview –
This session was conducted by Dr Deepti Joshi is currently working as a Pediatric Ophthalmologist at M M Joshi Eye Institute, Hubli, Karnataka. In addition, she is professionally taking care of Children’s eyes, and she is passionately involved in various activities about safeguarding children against child sexual abuse. She was a pioneer in conducting an activity to educate 2300 teachers at a single time in a single place in the year 2020, which was enrolled in the Limca Book of World Records. 

During this session, she explained to the children/inmates that the following key points were discussed –

1. Understanding Good Touch and Bad Touch, and its causes.
2. Measures to protect/safeguard themselves against Bad Touch/sexual abuse.
3. How can Bad Touch/sexual abuse occur over social media platforms/digitally, and what can they do to protect themselves.

What drives them? What are they passionate about? And it was emphasised that one should choose their career based on – How it will benefit them, how it would benefit the community/people and how it would benefit others. Belief – To reach our goal, we must have self-belief that we can achieve it. HOW – The Process The steps /process/short-term goals needed to achieve/reach their career goals.Emphasis on developing relevant skills and completing their education. WHAT – Actions / Self-Evaluation Self-evaluation of every step/process/short-term goals needed to achieve/reach their career goals to identify areas of improvement..The self-evaluation is to be done honestly on a weekly, quarterly, and annual basis.
