Topic – Substance Abuse/Tobacco Awareness.
Overview –
This topic was curated and conducted by Dr. Umesh Hallikeri, MBBS MD. Consultant Oncopathologist at The Karnataka Cancer Therapy and Research Institute, Navanagar,
Hubballi and Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Dharwad.
During this session, Dr. Umesh Hallikeri educated and explained to the children and their parents how drug/tobacco consumption can harm our physical and mental health, he also shared the harmful ingredients used to make drugs/tobacco. The doctor also shared that one should not be influenced by influential people promoting drugs/tobacco and not engage with people who consume it.

Dr. Umesh Hallikeri told the children to stay away from drugs/tobacco or any bad habits; they need to practice good habits, learn new skills, have a goal, and keep working on it, and over-focus on their studies and careers

Jayashree from MCKS Food for the Hungry Foundation. During this session, he covered the below – Importance of education and how it will help them in their holistic growth. He also emphasised that every child must complete their education, at least up to the degree level, so that they may have a stable future. It was also mentioned to them that they should avoid shortcuts, laziness, or choosing the easy path, especially in education and career pursuits, as true success comes from consistent effort and commitment and what they receive for free that will support you in your health, education, and career pursuits, be it from your parents, government etc to be considered them as an opportunity and make the best use of them to grow holistically, and please do not waste them. Topic – How to Practice Good Health

Overview –
During the session, the importance of both physical and mental health was discussed with the children, highlighting how it contributes to their holistic growth and development. The tips for leading a healthy lifestyle were explained in line with the following key points:
1. Discipline – Maintaining regular routines such as proper sleep, healthy eating, and daily exercise helps build a strong foundation for good health.
2. Balance – Balancing studies, play, rest, and nutrition ensures that the body and mind stay active, energetic, and focused.
3 Being Persistent vs Being Lazy – Good health requires consistent effort. Choosing to be active, responsible, and committed every day helps avoid laziness and builds strong habits for life.

Topic: The 3 Pillars for once holistic growth –
Overview:
In today’s session, we discussed the three key pillars of life: Health, Education, and Career. Students reflected on how each contributes to their overall well-being and future success. The importance of maintaining balance among all three was discussed.

It was also explained to the children how the 3P skill session has been designed to develop the personal, people and profession/project skills among them that would assist them in their health, learning and career pursuits/goals.

Topic – Importance of Listening and Observing with Concentration 
Overview –
During the session today it was discussed with the children that they have to develop the skill of concentration that will help them to learn any subject, skill and work more effectively and also help them give their best.

Doing things/tasks with concentration creates awarness that leads to continuous improvement. Listening and observing with concentration are key to effective studying, as they help students understand concepts clearly during lessons.

How to practise concentration if you are not able to –
– Count your breaths for 15-20 seconds, without changing your breathing pattern.
– If you are not able to pay attention to the work, then take a break or do some other work for 5-10 minutes and then come back to the main work.
– Pray – for the strength to pay concentration on what we are doing at this juncture, and what happened in the past we need to learn and move forward, and what happens in the future we need to leave it to God’s plan.
