Thanks to my friend who reminded me yesterday of this moment from the 90’s which I felt needed to be shared “Today”:

Back in my college days in 1990, I was visiting the family doc, Late Dr. Nadakarni, for i was not feeling too well. In the waiting area, this poem caught my eye:  Foot Prints In The Sand. Touched by it, I asked the doc where I could  find a copy. To which he says, it is the pharma rep who put that up on the wall, and then digs through the filing cabinets to hand me another exact copy. Am ever grateful to him.

Through-out my college days that poem hung inside the closet door so I would read or glance at it at least once a day.
I can’t say which college lessons have helped me in the past 35 years, but i can say the lesson in this poem has helped me in so many ways that i cant express.
Trying to connect the dots of time always makes me realize: A lesson that keeps on guiding us in the right direction over time is a Blessing.

As i was typing up this message, I wondered whatever happened to that poem. The pic is the photo copy (xerox as we use to call it) i made when i traveled to the US about 30 years ago…

FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND:

One night, I had a dream.

I was walking along the beach with God,
and across the skies flashed scenes from my life.
In each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand and to my surprise,
I noticed that in the lowest and saddest times along the path of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I asked God about it:
“God,  I notice that during the most troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why you left my side when I needed you the most.”
God said: “My precious child I never left you during your time of trial.
Where you see only one set of footprints, I was carrying you.’
