Mr.Mason student from Japan who is a teacher now has updated Mason Innovation page.
Plan/Next Steps :
Mr.Mason’s experience with the E-learning session with Rotary Bengeri school was great, currently, OG is on Zoom.He will be sharing the invite to his Japnese counterpart who is a teacher.
Mr.Mason has not heard back from Awa’s mother on the curator’s responsibility.
Mr.Mason will be sharing the plan for the letter campaign by EOD.
Mr.Mason will be joining the Brainstorm discussion on May 30th.

I first met Mr. Mason as my 8th grade social studies teacher – never would I have thought that we would connect again years later to exchange letters between our students across the world! I’m currently teaching English in Japan (Sado Island to be exact), and with the help of Mr. Mason and his Innovation Center we’ve been able to set up a sort of pen pal exchange between our students. This is the first time that my students have been able to apply their English abilities in a real-world situation – it’s been a great experience for them to write about their lives and learn about their new friends in America (and I hope they feel the same way!). Some have already found common interests with their pen pal, despite being on opposite sides of the world.
Cultural exchange is so important in our rapidly digitizing/globalizing world – hoping that through exchanges like these, students and adults alike will start to see people who once seemed so different as companions who are going through the same journey of life together.

Mr.Mason will reach out to Awa’s mother to begin as the curator and students to start sharing their ideas/train of thoughts on the OG page since its the best time now.
