A Child’s Perspective for a #Better_Society!
————————————————————-
When we encourage our children, youth and adults to love their cities with pride and think holistically about the problems plaguing our society with a solution-oriented approach we create World-Class Civic Leaders who innovate, influence, impact and inspire!

It was an honour and privilege to be invited as the Chief guest and Judge for a well planned and organised Social Ideation Competition for School children of Hubballi Dharwad conducted by #FIST: Forum for Impactful Social Transformation, a student forum of #KLE_Technological_University.

We witnessed active participation from several schools. They were given problem statements, mentored to come up with feasible solution/s and present it to us creatively and impactfully.

‘#Chhota_Social_Change_Agents’ were recognised and awarded. I appreciate all the enthusiastic and energetic students who participated and presented in a very innovative way to amaze us with their ideas and solutions! All the best to the Changemakers!

Let us together inspire and motivate our future generation to become Smart Citizens and own up their rights and responsibilities towards building a better, safer, greener, cleaner, beautiful and more prosperous society!

#Shift_dumping_yard_at_Hosayellapur
——————————————————-
One of the biggest environmental and health hazards in Dharwad is the dumping yard at Hosayellapur next to Kolikere Lake. Recently I had gone live on Facebook to highlight the pathetic state it’s in and discussed with many on how to solve this issue plaguing our City! We cannot turn a blind eye towards it and the administration needs to tackle it at the earliest.

Cleanliness and beautification drive at Deputy Channabasappa Memorial , Dharwad
———————————————————–

WOW! Another beautiful transformation at Dharwad thanks to more than 50 Changemakers of Dharwad Bonds, passionate citizens and HDMC! Everybody contributed in a big way for this. All the materials required for this event were contributed by our very generous Dharwadians Mr. Michael Makhwan and Mrs. Hema Makhwan!

Thank you Vijayavani for recognising all their efforts. I would also like to state that unlike what’s mentioned in this article HDMC has always been our Cleanliness partner as we believe all of us have to do it together. Within an hour of informing Zone 1 Assistant Commissioner Mr. Vijay Kumar R that we would want to clean and beautify this place he promptly sent their Jet Spray cleaning machine and the next day sent a few workers, garbage lifting machine and Cleaning machine. As citizens scrubbed and cleaned these machines gave the final touches to it. It’s a combined effort and we look forward to it being maintained well by HDMC!

It is not Us vs Them . It’s all of us joining hands for our Dharwad Hubballi!

#Stunning_Kelgeri_Lake

Our posts related to Kelgeri Lake have reduced since as requested our #DC Mr. Bommannahalli had arranged for a meeting for it’s conservation and development and we have taken several important decisions with the concerned departments. Will share the details once I receive the confirmation letter from DC’s office.

As of now University of Agricultural Sciences,Dharwad #UAS, #KSPCB, #HDUDA and #HDMC have been given certain time-bound responsibilities and #TATA_Marcopolo is assisting the cleaning process by providing certain tools and is also designing dustbins.

Meanwhile visit the lake, enjoy it’s flora and fauna and monitor its conservation. Also get mesmerized with it’s beauty captured amazingly well by Varsha!

Let us #Stand_United for #Sustainable_Development of #Hubballi_Dharwad
——————————————————-
Thank you media for highlighting our concerns and joining hands for this cause.Let us not destroy our cities by ignoring our flora and fauna which are our lifelines

Our plan for development should meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

We at #Sustainable_Development_Forum had a meeting with our MLA Mr. Arvind Bellad and other concerned departments and had requested for the following :

1. Organise a Public consultation meeting
2. Share the Detailed Project Report (DPR) Online
3. Translocate the trees which can survive the process
4. Translocate it to UAS and other nearby places where they will be nurtured well
5. Plant 10 trees for each tree that will be cut
6.These trees should be planted along the road or near it.
7. Plan the species to be planted with experts
8. Sign a Maintenance plan for a minimum of 3-5 years

A few of these requests are being met and we are positively looking forward to the others being met as well.
