Submitted memorandum for Strict enforcement of Rules to Keep our City Beautiful & Safe from defacement/disfigurement. --------------------------------------------------------------- We the citizen ambassadors of Dharwad Hubballi submitted memorandums to our District Incharge Minister Mr. Vinay Kulkarni, DC Mr. S.B. Bommanahalli, HDMC Commissioner Mr. Siddalingayya Hiremath and HDMC Zone 1 Assistant Commissioner Mr. Vijay Samrat. We had meaningful discussions and have been assured of appropriate and timely action against the offenders. We have appealed for the following: 1. Strict enforcement of The Karnataka Open Places ( Prevention of Disfigurement ) Act, 1981. 2. Strict action against the offenders who have defaced the walls at KCD road, Dharwad. We the members of Hubballi Dharwad Action Force ( HDAF )which is a citizen's forum focusing on keeping our city clean, green and beautiful would like to appeal to the district administration to take appropriate strict action against the offenders who have defaced the walls at KCD Road. We have been beautifying and maintaining many areas in the twin cities with 1000s of Citizens and around 8 months back with permission and collaboration from HDMC and many other organizations had cleaned and painted these walls with more than 200 citizens and artists. It's a one of it's kind 1 kilometre impactful artwork wherein citizens invested their own time,money and skills for the beautification of their city. Sadly there has been repeated defacing of this wall by several miscreants. We request that strict action be taken against them. According to The Karnataka Open Places Act 1981 this is a punishable offence and if we enforce this strictly then it will act as a deterrent to the others. This positive step can help us stop this rampant practice happening everywhere in Hubballi Dharwad spoiling it's pristine beauty. We also suggest that there should be boards installed at strategic locations( market area, bus stops , malls etc.) or walls specifically kept aside for such advertisements/ expressions/ notifications instead of disfiguring the entire city. We also understand that this can be due to lack of awareness and we need to educate and spread the word using different forms of media. There can also be boards displayed which can highlight this Act and mention the punishment for it. If we do not strictly enforce this Act then very soon every single surface will be defaced. #Dharwad_Heritage_Walk - #ABKSS #All_Saints_Church_Dharwad (1888) ------------------------------------------------------------ As a part of Dharwad Heritage Walk that was conducted in collaboration with #District_Administration during Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahithya Sammellana we visited one of the oldest and most beautiful churches of Dharwad #All_Saints_Church at Haliyal Road. All Saints Church is an Anglican church which was built in 1888. It is a replica of British country church and was commissioned for the European officers, very close to the barracks and the Gymkhana club (1886) We had the august presence of #Dharwad_DC_Smt_Deepa_Cholan, #ZP_CEO_Dr_B_C_Satheesha , #Additional_Commissioner_Public_Instructions Maj Siddalingayya Hiremath Kas, #DCP_Mr_B_S_Nemagouda, #Additional_Director_Tourism_Mr_Bhajantri and other officers. We thank Rev. Martin Borgai for his prayers for the successful celebration of Kannada Sahithya Sammelana, Smt. Usha. Joseph, Mr. Harry Joseph, Mr. Steve Abraham ( He was a great help in coordinating the visit to the church ), Mr. Hemant Eden and Mrs. Sophie Eden for their hospitality and blessings. #Candle_March_against_Terrorism_and_to_Pay_Tribute_to_Martyrs_of_Pulwama_Attack #We_Condemn_the_Cowardly_Heinous_Attack --------------------------------------------------------------------- Strongly condemning the cowardly attack where more than 40 CRPF jawans have been killed and dozens injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Awantipora, Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir and to stand in unity and solidarity with the entire nation against the heinous attack we #Dharwadians took out a protest Candle march! Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for speedy recovery of the injured. We at Dharwad stand united with the families of martyrs and those who have been injured! The candle march began at Kalabhavan and proceeded towards Dharwad Market where we observed 2 minutes' silence to pay our respect to the brave souls. Mr. Manjunath Hiremath's '#Veer_Jawan_Amar_Jawan artwork invoked strong emotions in all of us as we remembered how soldiers sacrifice their lives for our safety and security. In my 36+ years of service I have never experienced such Big Heartedness, selflessness, empathy, unity, care and concern. I have served throughout India and Dharwadians have displayed great #valour and #unconditional_care beyond anyone's imagination. They have shown the world what it means to stand by each other during times of distress. I have never seen such dedication. Hats off to everyone who's been a part of this marvellous service. Dharwad and it's loving citizens will always occupy a very special place in my Heart" - #Mr_J_H_Ravishankar , #Karnataka's #Chief_Fire_Officer ( The Officer who led the operation from the front ) It's not just the Chief Fire Officer who shared his feelings and thoughts with me but also the other officers from NDRF, SDRF, Fire and Emergency Department, BSF and other departments. They were moved and were speechless by what they experienced in Dharwad and thanked everybody who's been a part of this. They personally came and expressed their heartfelt gratitude. Some with tears of joy for the love that they recieved and took photos, videos and interviews. In one of the worst man made disasters Dharwad has ever faced we experienced mixed feelings. It was a tough testing period for all of us as we lost 19 fellow Dharwadians, however at the same time it was a joyous moment to watch 64 people being saved from the jaws of death. It was also a great learning for all of us as we stood together bravely day and night with several citizens doing our bit towards providing facilities and services with District Administration, HDMC, NGOs, Organisations and other individuals. I would like to extend my gratitude towards Nayana Ks ma'am, #Saroja_Pujar ma'am and #Santosh_Myageri sir from #HDMC for having given us an opportunity to serve our heroes. Let us make sure that such incidents don't occur with stringent laws and it's strict enforcement, regular quality monitoring and testing and other required steps to make our structures safe and strong. Let us also applaud everyone who's been a part of this 7 day rescue operations and have set an example to the world on how no matter what comes our way, we stand united at Dharwad!
